About us

Litchfield Horse and Pony Club (LHPC) is a community based, not-for-profit association incorporated under the Northern Territory Associations Act in 2005 and is run solely for the benefit of members.

LHPC is an affiliate of Pony Club Association of the Northern Territory (PCANT). PCANT is the peak sporting body representing the Northern Territory branch of Pony Club Australia. Sport Australia recognises Pony Club Australia as a National Sporting Organisation.

Pony Clubs are Australia's largest and oldest equestrian organisation. They are the pathway to other equestrian disciplines and higher-level competitive riding, including the Olympics. Pony Club provides a curriculum of instruction in riding and horsemanship, focusing on the safety of horse and rider.

LHPC riders go on to participate in a variety of equestrian sports and disciplines across the NT, such as:

  • Dressage

  • Mounted games

  • Show jumping

  • Cross Country

  • Team penning

  • Polocrosse

  • Camp drafting

  • Western Riding

LHPC encourages and supports local competition and national and international pathways. Past LHPC members have become national representatives in Mounted Games, Show Jumping, and Western Riding, traveling to England, the USA, France, South Africa, and China.

Home grounds

LHPC holds a perpetual lease agreement with Livingstone Recreational Reserve (LRR) which has been in place since 2009. The lease encompasses 2.8 of the 80 hectares of the reserve which are maintained year-round by LHPC. Using external grants and user fees, LHPC has developed assets on the grounds, including a club house, stables and day yards, wash bays and riding areas (dressage arena and enclosed sand arena which are also maintained exclusively by the club).

If you wish to hire our grounds or facilities, please complete and submit the enquiry form on the policies and documents page.
